Ordering & Quoting

How do I get a quote?
The quickest way is to use our online 3D design tool — enter your measurements and you’ll receive an instant quote by email. Alternatively, submit your dimensions via our quote request form and we’ll come back to you within one working day.
We need the total run length, the height required, the application (stairs, flat, balcony etc), your preferred system and finish. A simple sketch or dimensioned photo is really helpful for more complex projects. Don’t worry if you’re not sure — we’ll guide you through it.

Yes — our Component Shop stocks individual posts, glass panels, channels, handrails, brackets, fixings and accessories. If you know exactly what you need, you can order directly from the shop. If you’re unsure, our team can help you build a complete parts list.

Yes. Our in-house fabrication team can manufacture to bespoke dimensions, angles and profiles. If you have plans or drawings, send them over and we’ll provide a detailed quote for a fully custom solution.

Systems & Products

Which balustrade system is best for my project?

It depends on your budget, aesthetic preference and application. For the cleanest look with maximum visibility, our frameless channel or spigot systems work best. For a more traditional or versatile option, post & rail is the most popular choice. Wire rope suits garden and outdoor settings. Our team is happy to advise — give us a call on 01908 370 650.

We use 316-grade marine stainless steel as standard across all our systems. This is suitable for coastal and exposed locations. 304-grade is available as a lower-cost option for sheltered indoor applications — ask us if you’d like pricing for both grades.
We supply toughened safety glass as standard for most applications, and toughened laminated glass (where one pane holds in place if the other breaks) for high-risk or overhead applications. Available in clear, ultra-clear, tinted and frosted options. All glass complies with BS EN 12150.
Yes — powder coating is available in any standard RAL colour at an additional cost. Popular choices include RAL 9005 (jet black), RAL 9010 (white) and RAL 7016 (anthracite grey). Lead times for powder coated items are slightly longer than standard satin finish.

Delivery

How long does delivery take?
Standard stock components are typically dispatched within 24–48 hours. Bespoke or made-to-measure systems have a lead time of 10–14 working days from order confirmation. We’ll confirm the exact lead time when you place your order.
Yes — we can deliver to any UK address including active construction sites. Please ensure there is someone available to receive the delivery and inspect the goods on arrival. For large orders we can arrange a timed delivery slot.
Delivery costs depend on the size and weight of the order. We use a pallet delivery service for larger orders. Costs will be confirmed at the point of quoting. Free delivery is available on orders over a certain value — ask us when you enquire.

Installation

Do you offer an installation service?
Yes — we offer a full survey, design, supply and installation service covering the whole of the UK. The process starts with a site survey (£300, refunded on order), followed by design, fabrication and installation. Our installation teams handle everything from first visit through to cleanup and aftercare.
Yes — most of our systems are designed for straightforward DIY installation by an experienced builder or competent DIYer. We provide full installation guides with every supply order, and our technical team is available by phone if you have questions during the installation.
Our site survey covers a full measurement of the area, checking of the substrate to confirm it can support the fixings, identification of any structural issues, and a discussion with you about your requirements and finish preferences. The survey costs £300, which is refunded when you confirm your order.

Regulations

Do I need planning permission for a balustrade?
In most cases, replacing or installing a balustrade on an existing structure does not require planning permission, as it is considered permitted development. However, if you are in a conservation area, or if the balustrade forms part of a new build or extension, you should check with your local authority. We can advise on what’s typical for most residential applications.
Under UK Building Regulations (Part K), balustrades on stairs must be at least 900mm high, and those on landings, balconies or flat areas must be at least 1100mm high. Our systems are available in both heights as standard.
Yes — all our balustrade systems are designed and tested to comply with UK Building Regulations Part K and BS 6180. We can provide test certificates and documentation on request. For commercial or public buildings, additional structural calculations may be required — our team can advise.
