Prepare For Your Balustrade Site Survey
Once your balustrade quotation has been passed on to the technical department we may need to conduct a site survey to obtain all measurements, and assess the substrate and fixing points to ascertain the best fixing method.
We will also do everything we can to identify potential issues before installation.
It’s very important to assess all of the factors prior to going ahead with the balustrade installation.
Our team will provide an over the phone consultation, in most cases. We will talk about the measurements that you have taken yourself and any issues we feel may arise.
The most important points to keep in mind when taking measurements yourself are the overall dimensions (measurements between points), what the fixing points are to be connected to, ie the wall makeup.
In some instances, a further survey may be undertaken by one of our specialists.
How much does a survey cost?
In more technical locations, the physical survey will allow our installers to check that the dimensions match the quoted materials, ensuring the substrate will grant a secure fixing.
A Smart Builder drawing will then be created which you will be provided with.
Our Standard Survey Cost is £300
Considerations when Taking the Survey
Site surveys are performed by our friendly professional team, with minimal disturbance to our customers.
Considerations would be delivery of the balustrade materials. Is there ample space close to your home? What is the access to the balustrade location on site like? We will need reasonable access to the installation area, you may be required to put out parking cones, we will assess room for offloading equipment and take a look at doorways for access.
Are any special requirements necessary?
We need to consider access and points of contact. This is specifically required if you require a custom balustrade system with specific needs for instance tight positioning.
Please tell the surveyor if you feel you have any special requirements for protection for floors and doorways.
Our technical team will identify all of the fixing points and the material used in the construction of the walls.
If you have a flat roof with a watertight membrane we will discuss the best way of moving forward with your balustrade installation without causing any water ingress.
As always, our team are available by phone for any help or guidance but it is important to voice any concerns to your surveyor.
