Key Factors: Distributed Load The Uniformly Distributed Load (U.D.L) that the systems can withstand is dependent on the diameter and wall thickness of the tube as well as the spacing of the upright posts within a system. Building Regulations As with any new development or renovation of an existing property, building regulations are a key factor to consider to ensure compliance, and more importantly the safety of any balustrade or handrail system that is installed. Although the final decision will be the responsibility of the customer along with the building inspector we are more than happy to help you discuss your needs in relation to these regulations. Strength Test certificates are available on request. Different applications will require different load requirements which we can advise when planning an installation. Handrail Height The Handrail height will vary depending on the use. Due to the flexibility of our systems this can be easily altered to whatever height is required. Glass, Wire & Rod Infill Options There will be a number of factors to consider when deciding on the appropriate infill option for your installation, we always advise that you speak to your local authority before installing the system to make check if they have any requirements you must adhere to. However, the following is worth considering; the thickness of glass, the size of gap around the edge of the glass, whether to use horizontal or vertical running wire or bar and the spacing between the wire or rod.
Stainless steel is one of the most durable options for an internal or external handrail or balustrade system. However, to help maintain its appearance we do recommend that it will require some maintenance so as to keeps its initial appearance. Depend upon the location and application will determine what maintenance is requiring. For example, systems installed in areas with high levels of contamination (such as city centers or near the sea) or near water (swimming pools or boats) may require more frequent cleaning than those in a rural area. In all cases a chemical cleaner will remove any contamination that poses any potential affects to the durability of the steel.
The standard finish is a 320 grit finish which is more commonly known as a satin polished finish the other option available is a brushed finish. These can also be provided in a bright mirror finish, which are in fact recommended for coastal locations. The 320 grit finish is highest grades of finish available. It ensures the steel is durable as possible.
We are able to supply our products in two types of Steel, AISI 304 stainless steel or Marine Grade AISI 316 stainless steel. The grades relate to the composition of the stainless steel. AISI 316 is also known as “Marine Grade” stainless steel due to its higher level of nickel and the addition of molybdenum. AISI 316 due to its durability is perfect to use in areas where it is exposed to harsher environments. Therefore, AISI 316 stainless steel is generally recommended for external applications and AISI 304 for internal use.
The large majority of our system are designed to simply slot and glues together. In some cases, you may be required to do some drilling.
